New Graduate Degree Programmes in South-Eastern Caribbean
The Caribbean Graduate School of Theology has embarked on a collaborative project with the West Indies School of Theology to offer the Master of Arts programme in Interdisciplinary Studies on the Trinidad campus of WIST.
The programme will be launched in February 2007. The mode of delivery will be modular. The first cohort (group) will meet one week per month for nineteen months, that is, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We are particularly interested in training Christian workers and self employed persons during the first two years, hence the one week concentrated modules. We want to reach as many persons from the Eastern Caribbean nations of Barbados, Grenada, Antigua, Dominica, St. Vincent, Tobago and others.
The programme in Interdisciplinary Studies that will be offered has two areas of major, namely, (1) Leadership and Management; and (2) Guidance and Counselling.
PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION
The M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies is designed principally for individuals with no prior academic training in the field of theology but desire theological training for practical work in society and/or church. Candidates for this programme need to have secured a baccalaureate degree for matriculation. It is a non-thesis and interdisciplinary programme which integrates such fields as Biblical and Theological Studies, Christian Education, Intercultural Studies, Leadership and Management, and Counselling.
The M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies is a two-year programme requiring the completion of nineteen (19) courses and an internship of one hundred and fifty (150) hours. The programme is made up of eleven (11) core courses and eight (8) courses which constitute the area of major.
ACCREDITATION STATUS OF PROGRAMME
