Operation Mobilization Establishes Caribbean Board of Directors

David Ecklebarger, the North American Area Coordinator for Operation Mobilization International announced the establishment of the OM Caribbean Board of Directors. The new board met for that first time in Tyrone, Georgia on January 31 and February 1. The Board exists to oversee the organisation in its goals to motivate, develop and equip people from the Caribbean for world evangelisation, and to strengthen and help plant churches, especially among the unreached.

The Board will govern OM's rapidly growing work in the region. OM's ships, (Logos, Logos II, and the Doulos) have ministered in the Caribbean for over 25 years. OM Caribbean's permanent presence began in 2004 with the establishment of offices in Trinidad and Barbados, with their appropriate national boards of directors. These two boards continue to play a critical role in establishing the work of OM on both islands. A representative from each of these boards will serve on the OM Caribbean Board. OM Caribbean now has work in 10 Caribbean islands with missionaries who either have served or are serving on the two ships, in many countries, and provides critically needed funds for OM evangelistic outreaches and ministries around the world.

The new Caribbean Board is led by Chairman David Passman, present CEO of the International Bible Society - Send the Light, USA (IBS-STL US). He has also served as the Chairman of OM USA for many years. He will serve as chairman for one year to help establish the new board.

The Vice Chairman is Kenneth Ragoonath from Trinidad. Kenneth is the President of the Open Bible Institute of Theology, General Secretary of Trinidad & Tobago Council of Evangelical Churches, President of the Evangelical Association of the Caribbean, Chairman of CETA (Caribbean Evangelical Theological Association), and serves as a member of the Operation Mobilization Trinidad and Tobago Board of Directors.
